Cleaning and organizing is much easier when you have fewer things, I always say. The same goes for your cleaning products: keep them organized and to a minimum.
Aside from laundry detergent, dishwashing liquid, and hand & dish soap, what products are really necessary for cleaning?
The Necessary Cleaning Products
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
Bleach: to disinfect. Use on any surface that needs disinfectant.
Glass cleaner: for no streaks. Use on glass and stainless steel.
Barkeeper’s friend/Comet/Ajax: to remove stubborn stains on surfaces, disinfect, or to remove mildew.
Carpet stain remover: to remove stains on carpets, rugs, and upholstery.
Clothing stain remover: to remove stains on clothing.
Goo Gone: to remove stubborn, sticky residue.
Sponge: to scrub those stains and surfaces.
Natural Alternatives to the Necessary Cleaning Products
All Purpose Cleaner: natural soap (like Dr. Bronner’s, Mrs. Meyer’s) + diluted with water + spray bottle
Bleach alternative: hydrogen peroxide
Glass cleaner: 1 part white vinegar + 5 parts water
Carpet stain remover: 1 tbsp baking soda + ¼ cup water or vinegar
Clothing stain remover: 1 tbsp baking soda + ¼ cup water or vinegar
Goo Gone: lemon + water
Sponge: natural sea sponge
The Caddy/Basket
Finally, wrangling up your cleaning products into one basket helps keep them organized and ready to carry from room to room when it’s time to clean. I found this basket in the dollar section at Target!
If you’re someone who swears by using chemical products or someone who prefers all natural products, less is always more!
Happy Spring Cleaning!
